This addition to Missouri Baptist Medical Center features critical new spaces, a new bed tower with medical office building, operating room expansion, new operating spaces, a helipad relocated to the roof of an existing bed tower, a parking structure and various new support spaces.

This transformative, design-built addition to Missouri Baptist Medical Center features critical new spaces, such as a new Clinical Learning Institute for the Clinical School of Nursing, a new bed tower with medical office building, operating room expansion, new pre- and post- operating spaces, a helipad relocated to the roof of an existing bed tower, a 460-car above grade parking structure and various new mechanical and electrical support spaces.

A very strong emphasis was placed on utilizing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technology, which contributed to the successful implementation of Lean and sustainable building principles.

This is the first true Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) contract in the region. Clayco implemented Lean construction and design-build principles, which led to improved efficiencies regarding the planning and execution of the entire project from design to construction. A very strong emphasis was placed on utilizing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technology, which contributed to the successful implementation of Lean and sustainable building principles.

In addition, Clayco completed BJC’s Clinical Learning Institute (CLI) is a single-story, 43,000-square-foot classroom, simulation lab and training facility that sits atop a three-story parking garage on the Missouri Baptist Medical Center campus. Clayco/Lamar Johnson Collaborative’s integrated team provided full planning, architecture, interior design and design-build services for the space.

The CLI includes obstetrics/pediatrics/surgical/skills simulation labs; distance learning and education classrooms, a resource center, computer lab, student commons and faculty office space. The exterior skin was selected as an extension of the current campus aesthetic, utilizing brick tile and precast concrete panels.
