Related Midwest & CRG are Co-Developing the 128-acre quantum campus that will be developed through a public-private partnership with the state of Illinois. The project marks the initial phase of a broader 440-acre master plan on the former U.S. Steel South Works site

Quantum Shore Chicago has already attracted some of the best academic institutions, innovative technology companies, and government agencies with a shared commitment to leapfrog old models, accelerate human potential, and create a future that can’t wait. Because what happens here might very well set the pace for the next century.

The first phase of the project launches the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park (IQMP), a 128-acre innovation campus anchored by PsiQuantum, IBM, and Australian quantum startup Diraq — global leaders shaping the future of large-scale quantum computing. Alongside them, Advocate Health Care will invest $300M to create a state-of-the-art hospital, making Quantum Shore a powerhouse of breakthrough science, health, and technology.

Related Midwest and CRG are co-developing IQMP for anchor tenant PsiQuantum, a leader in quantum computing technology, utilizing a combination of private financing and state funds. The first phase of IQMP, designed by Lamar Johnson Collaborative, will occupy approximately 30 acres. Clayco will serve as the general contractor for the initial phase.

Palo Alto, California-based PsiQuantum is a quantum computing company on a mission to build the world’s first commercially useful quantum computer, which would be able to perform complex calculations much faster than traditional computers.

The development of IQMP and 8080 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive continues Related’s investment in Chicago’s burgeoning tech community. Related previously donated land at The 78, its 62-acre mixed-use neighborhood development, to the University of Illinois System to house the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI), which pools public and private resources to support tech talent development, applied R&D and business building. The university’s Illinois Quantum Information Science and Technology Center is a member institution of the Chicago Quantum Exchange, and quantum information science is one of many fields that will benefit from the R&D that takes place at DPI.

Located 10 miles from the Loop, 8080 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive is located within walking distance of the Metra Electric 87th Street station, served by CTA bus routes and close to the Chicago Skyway and other major thoroughfares. The site is also within the Illinois International Port District, providing access to multimodal transportation, and offers high power and water capacity for quantum and other advanced technology industries.
