Welcome to The Jewelers Building, a legendary address on Chicago’s riverfront now offering a cutting-edge home for contemporary offices.

In 2024, CRG and The Prime Group, Inc. acquired the Jewelers Building at 35 East Wacker Drive — a 556,200-square-foot, 40-story landmark along the Chicago River. Designed by Joachim Giaver and Frederick Dinkelberg and completed in 1927, the Beaux-Arts tower was once the tallest building in the world outside of New York City. It was designated a Chicago landmark in 1994 and remains one of the most architecturally distinctive addresses in the city.

In 2026, the partnership announced a $25 million renovation program designed to honor the building’s character while redefining the experience for tenants and the public alike. Roanoke Hospitality Group, an affiliate of The Prime Group, Inc., will operate new food and beverage concepts across multiple venues, including an all-day lobby bar, a fine dining restaurant, and a 25th-floor rooftop bar. Two colonnaded cupolas at the building’s riverfront corners — originally designed to screen rooftop water tanks — will be activated as intimate private dining venues with panoramic views of the Chicago River and skyline.

The second floor will serve as an extension of tenant offices, with a reimagined conference and event center accommodating more than 130 guests and a fully equipped coworking lounge for flexible work and gathering. An expanded fitness center will offer high-end equipment, dedicated studios, infrared saunas, cold plunge baths, and upgraded locker rooms. A curated exterior lighting program will illuminate the building’s historic terra-cotta facade, with programmable color capabilities that allow the landmark to mark holidays and civic events.

Renovation construction is set to begin in fall 2026, with the new restaurant and bar concepts slated to open in 2027. CRG and Clayco — longtime tenants of the building and now co-owners — expanded their footprint at closing to more than 91,000 square feet, reaffirming a commitment to Chicago that dates to 2010.
