CRG Promotes Hannah Kiem to Vice President of Development for Southwest Region

Kiem will lead firm’s strategic growth of its industrial platform in key Southwest markets

CHICAGOCRG, the national real estate development and investment firm, has promoted Hannah Kiem from director of development to vice president of development for the Southwest region. Kiem will oversee all stages of the firm’s industrial developments and help spearhead the sourcing of new land and development opportunities across key regional markets including Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and Texas.

Kiem is the second strategic leadership promotion announced this week to support the planned growth of CRG’s industrial business across the U.S. Kiem will be based in CRG’s Phoenix office, which was launched in April of this year to capitalize on the continued rise of the Southwest region as a core investment market for global real estate capital. The region’s population growth, land availability and favorable business climate have spurred significant demand from large industrial users coming out of traditional coastal and international markets both for distribution and specialized manufacturing.

“Working alongside CRG partner and senior vice president, Mark Sonnenberg, to accelerate our presence in the Southwest, Hannah helped establish our Phoenix office and was instrumental in launching two The Cubes-branded industrial projects in the region, The Cubes at Glendale and The Cubes at Mesa Gateway, which will be the largest master-planned, development-ready industrial park delivered in the Southeast Valley,” said Shawn Clark, president of CRG. “Her contributions to high-value developments in Phoenix and the Midwest, along with her considerable experience in all phases of project development, have proven invaluable to the team.”

Kiem joined CRG as a development project coordinator in 2017. She was subsequently promoted to director of development for the Midwest, and then to director of development for the Southwest in 2020, running due diligence, planning, entitlement and construction phases of all CRG deals in the region. In her new role as vice president, she will help lead sourcing of new land and development opportunities. Kiem has been engaged in numerous industrial projects, including large-scale distribution and logistics facilities and speculative industrial parks. Prior to joining CRG, she was a development associate with Perseus Realty, LLC and a project engineer with Clark Construction Group, LLC.

“With two monumental industrial projects under construction in less than one year, our team has generated substantial momentum in the greater Phoenix market,” said Kiem. “I look forward to working with Mark to continue breaking new ground as we expand CRG’s footprint across the Southwest, developing and building the region’s most modern, Class A new-construction facilities for a broad range of users.”

CRG recently launched U.S. Logistics Fund II (USLF II), an investment fund that will develop $1.5 billion of new state-of-the-art e-commerce and distribution facilities across key logistics markets throughout the U.S. over the next three years. USLF II is the successor fund of U.S. Logistics Fund I (USLF I), which was launched in 2018 and funded the successful development of $421 million of modern logistics facilities under CRG’s The Cubes brand.

Kiem brings over 9 years of experience in the real estate and construction industries, delivering more than 10 million square feet of development projects across Arizona, California, Ohio and Missouri. She holds a Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University.
